Exciting Outdoor Pursuits

With summer upon us, we are increasingly looking for way to enjoy the great outdoors. We have put together a few new ideas and we are excited to offer several activities for this summer!

Hunting season may be over, but at Dancing Bear Lodge we think a private sporting clays experience at the Smoky Mountain Sports Club might be your next best option! This is an unlimited clays experience that includes excellent instruction and the use of top-of-the-line Beretta Shotguns. So take some time to brush up on the shots you missed this season or take the opportunity to enjoy a new spot. From the beginner to the avid shot gunner, the course at the Smoky Mountain Sports Club has something for everyone.

Along with the sporting clays opportunity, we can also offer a great, adrenaline filled, group paintball experience through the Smoky Mountain Sports Club. Recommended for groups of four or more, paintball offers an exciting chance to test your strategy and teamwork as you pick your way through the trees and bunkers of this fun course!

If you’re looking for something a little more leisurely then let the horse do the walking on an amazing trek through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You can view a 100 foot waterfall tucked deep into the woods and we can even help you set up a carriage or hayride for the family or group as a way to wind down the days experiences.

Townsend is a quaint little town that sits peacefully along the Little River. However, there are a lot of shops, galleries, museums and restaurants scattered throughout. Rent a bike and ride the convenient bike path that runs along Highway 321 right in to town. Enjoy the cool breeze as you ride the paved path from shop to shop and see the town while getting a little exercise as well.

As your base camp for Smoky Mountain adventures, let one of our guides take you to our favorite summer hikes and fishing holes. Summer weather draws millions of visitors to the Smokies each year to enjoy these outdoor adventures. Hike to a waterfall or escape the heat by hiking to a ridge top with a spectacular view. Heck, why not combine the two activities and hike in to a back-country stream and enjoy a day away from the roads. Get your feet wet in the cool Smoky Mountain streams while pursuing wild trout!
